Join me for an intensive two-day workshop where we will explore the basics of oil painting from a photo and delve into the intricacies of conveying personality and expression in oil paintings. Focusing on fundamental elements like composition, proportion, and colour theory, I will demonstrate how to create lifelike skin tones and use various brush techniques in your work.
Throughout the workshop, participants will engage in technical discussions on oil painting materials and techniques, with lots of one-one-one guidance helping them toward achieving an accurate portrait. We will be using a limited colour palette called the “Zorn Palette” used by 19th century master portrait painter Anders Zorn.
The workshop will include a live demonstration, offering an insider’s look at effective techniques used to create a successful portrait. By the end of the two days, participants will gain valuable insight into timeless oil painting methods learning how to create a portrait from start to finish.

Private Art Classes
My aim is to help artists develop their voices and become masterful at drawing and painting. If you are passionate about art and want to pursue your art in a more rigorous, methodical, and goal-oriented way, let’s work together.
These classes are tailored to:
students preparing an art portfolio for school, a creative job, or a tattoo apprenticeship.
art enthusiasts seeking to become a professional artist.
working artists seeking to improve specific drawing and painting skills.
Classes are available online via Zoom or in person at my studio at 44 Boston Avenue, Unit 2. As an Art Renewal Center (ARC) Associate Living Master, all my classes are ARC Approved.
Pricing
The price of classes are as follows
$85 CAD for 50 minutes
$285 CAD for 4 /1 class per week within 1 month
Payments can be made via e-transfer, PayPal, or in cash prior to the class date.
An additional 3% will be added to payments made via credit card or PayPal.

Cancellation Policy for Art Lessons
To ensure a smooth and respectful learning environment for all students, the following cancellation policy applies:
1. Cancellations & Rescheduling Minimum 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson without penalty, cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance will be charged the full lesson fee. Make-up lessons may be offered at the instructor’s discretion, subject to availability.
2. No-Shows If a student does not attend a scheduled lesson without notice, the session will be considered a no-show and is non-refundable.
3. Illness or Emergencies In cases of sudden illness or genuine emergencies, please contact me as soon as possible. Exceptions may be made at my discretion.
4. Instructor Cancellations If I need to cancel a lesson for any reason, you will be offered a full refund or the option to reschedule at your convenience.

Portrait Painting from a Photo Workshop
at The Academy of Realist Art

Join us for a three-day workshop, Portrait Painting From a Photo, where we will explore the unique challenges of painting from a photograph and delve into the intricacies of conveying personality and expression in oil paintings. Focusing on fundamental elements like composition, proportion, anatomy, and colour theory, guest instructor Robyn Asquini will demonstrate how to create lifelike skin tones and use various brush techniques in your work.
Throughout the workshop, participants will engage in technical discussions on oil painting materials and techniques, with daily individual critiques guiding them toward achieving an accurate portrait. We will be using a variation of the colour palette used by master portrait painter John Singer Sargent.
The workshop will include a live demonstration, offering an insider’s look at effective techniques used to create a successful portrait. By the end of the three days, participants will gain valuable insight into timeless oil painting methods and also experience the entire process of creating a portrait from start to finish.
